The Climate Risk Assessment for Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA Guidebook) builds on and extends the Vulnerability Sourcebook (Fritzsche et al. 2014) and it’s Risk Supplement (GIZ & EURAC 2017) in order to provide guidance on how to systematically consider ecosystem-based solutions in the context of climate risk assessments including the identification of potential adaptation measures, related (spatial) planning as well as monitoring and evaluation (M&E). It represents a consistent and coherent approach to address Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA).

The Climate Risk Assessment for Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA) was commissioned by the Global Project “Mainstreaming EbA – Strengthening Ecosystem-based Adaptation in Planning and Decision Making Processes” of GIZ on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB) under its International Climate Initiative (IKI). The Guidebook is developed jointly by GIZ, Eurac Research and UNU-EHS and will be published mid-2018.
