Globally and in India, there has been a paradigm shift in Disaster Management, from a ‘response and relief-centric’ approach to ‘prevention-preparedness and mitigation-centric approach’, which calls for holistic, integrated and inclusive strategies with effective use of science and technology interventions and innovations from across a range of disciplines. In the Prime Minister’s 10 point agenda, item 05 focuses on leveraging technologies and science for disaster risk reduction.
