UNU-EHS Director Dr. Shen Xiaomeng becomes honorary professor at Hochschule Bonn Rhein-Sieg

    This week Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg, University of Applied Sciences (H-BRS) named UNU-EHS Director Dr. Shen Xiaomeng an honorary professor. Dr. Shen will contribute her expertise to the International Centre for Sustainable Development (IZNE), a scientific institution committed to sustainable development and responsible social action. Dr. Shen will work in the areas of disaster risk perception and communication, as well as transformation towards sustainability with a particular focus on cultural contexts.

    Dr. Shen received her letter of appointment from H-BRS President Prof. Hartmut Ihne. “We are looking forward to Dr. Shen’s exciting contributions,” he said on the occasion. “Her diverse experiences in international collaboration and ties to the United Nations will enrich our institution.”

    H-BRS and UNU-EHS are both members of the Bonn Alliance for Sustainability Research, which was founded in 2017 with the aim to strengthen knowledge and collaboration around the topic of sustainable develop in the greater Bonn area. The Alliance fosters policy and practice-relevant research on sustainability, which extends from the local context to the global level. It brings together experts from different institutions, acknowledging that a complex topic such as sustainability requires an interdisciplinary network.
