The Pan African University Institute for Water and Energy Sciences (PAUWES) will host its Research-2-Practice Forum April 16th-18th, 2018, in Tlemcen, Algeria. Designed for scientists and practitioners alike, it aims to provide a platform for experts active in applied and practice-oriented research in the areas of renewable energy, water and climate security. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in an active exchange and to build strategic partnerships.
The guiding vision of the African Union’s Agenda 2063 is to achieve “an integrated, prosperous and peaceful Africa, an Africa driven and managed by its own citizens and representing a dynamic force in the international arena.” Linking research and development is therefore a top priority.
The forum is jointly organized by Pan African University (PAU), the United Nations University’s Institute for Environment and Human Security (UNU-EHS) and the University Abou Bekr Belkaid in Tlemcen. It is supported by the German Government, the Center for Development Research at the University of Bonn (ZEF) and the Institute for Technology and Resources Management in the Tropics and Subtropics (ITT).
Results and recommendations from the forum will be integrated into ongoing and future activities at PAUWES. Moreover, they will be further discussed with regional and Pan-African institutions such as the African Union, African Development Bank, NEPAD and regional commissions.
Applications can be submitted until January 8th, 2018. They should cover one of the following areas:
