The UN University’s rector, Dr David Malone, has been featured in The National newspaper discussing the work of the university in the lead-up to COP23.
The article described the university as “one of [the UN’s] most important yet little-known creations”, and went on to outline the important work UNU’s global institutes play in supporting and advising UN agencies and member states.
The article also focused on the World Risk Report, an annual publication by UNU-EHS, and described it as an index that “helps the international community better understand the drivers of disaster risk to minimise damage and shorten recovery time.”
It also drew attention to the Momentum for Change award, which was last week given to the Munich Climate Insurance Initiative (MCII), based at UNU-EHS in Bonn, for its pioneering work on the Livelihood Protection Policy. An awards ceremony and series of round-table events on climate risk insurance will take place during COP.
