In the municipality of San Pedro Sula, Honduras, annual damages caused by different climate hazards are projected to double by 2042. This projection is based on the Economics of Climate Adaptation (ECA), a decision-making tool that identifies the most promising and cost-effective strategies tailored to specific regions, using climate-related data and economic and sustainability impact studies.
This ECA methodology has been featured in UN News, illustrating how the United Nations is helping policy-makers to tackle climate change by limiting the damage from extreme weather events.
