Florian Waldschmidt is a Project Associate for the Munich Climate Risk Insurance Initiative (MCII) hosted by UNU-EHS and supports the implementation of climate risk analysis studies, applying the Economics of Climate Adaptation (ECA) methodology in different settings. The ECA methodology assists in formulating long-term climate adaptation strategies, including risk transfer solutions.
He has previously worked with KfW, GIZ and Sparkassenstiftung für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (SBIFC). At his previous position as an advisor and with the GIZ, his role was both coordinative as well as technical, acting as the country focal point in Ghana.
Mr. Waldschmidt holds an MSc in Economics and Development Economics from the University of Nottingham, UK and a BSc in Economics from the University of Kiel, Germany. He is further a certified expert in micro-insurance form the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management.
