Axel Nguedia holds a MSc. in Energy Engineering from the Pan African University Institute of Water and Energy Sciences, in Algeria. His MSc. thesis investigated the use of Open Source tool (OSEMOSys) in the optimization of energy systems and investment planning in Africa, in the context of climate change. Prior to completing his MSc, Axel worked as a research intern at the African Climate Policy Centre, analysing the energy contributions of Central African Countries’ Intended Determined Contributions (INDCs) in the frame of the Paris Agreement.
Axel worked in the energy consultancy industry in Cameroon, as an independent energy consultant, where he contributed to increasing energy access in his community by offering off-grid energy solutions and energy efficiency services. These services included energy audits of institutional buildings, design and sizing of solar home systems, as well as design and economic analysis of biomass wastes to biogas. He also contributed to the development of the International Union for Conservation of the Nature’s (IUCN) priorities in the energy sector in Cameroon.
Axel research’s interest is in energy access with specific focus on sustainable use of renewable energy resources. He is further interested in the use of Information and Communication Technologies in the fields of renewable energies and energy efficiency.
Prior to joining UNU-EHS, Axel worked as a Project Consultant at UNU-ViE, supporting the research activities at the Pan African University Institute of Water and Energy Sciences, in energy related aspects.
Currently, he is working as a Research Associate in the Pan African Cooperation and Educational Technologies (PACET) programme, where he is contributing to the research activities in the frame of the cooperation with the Pan African University Institute of Water and Energy Sciences.
